Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account or using the Matey platform, website, or mobile applications (the “Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you are using the Service on behalf of a business, you represent that you have authority to bind that business to these Terms.
If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
2. Description of Service
Matey is an AI-powered invoicing, estimating, and business management platform designed for tradespeople and small businesses. The Service includes invoice creation, online payment collection (via Stripe), estimate generation, client management, time tracking, and related features.
3. Account Registration
You must provide accurate and complete information when creating an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at support@usematey.app if you suspect unauthorised access.
You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service.
4. Subscription and Payment
Matey offers free and paid subscription plans. By subscribing to a paid plan:
- You authorise us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis at the applicable rate.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the renewal date.
- You can cancel at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
- We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods unless required by law.
- We may change pricing with 30 days' notice. Continued use after the change constitutes acceptance.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any regulations
- Send spam, unsolicited communications, or fraudulent invoices
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, hack, or disrupt the Service
- Upload viruses, malware, or harmful code
- Impersonate another person or business
- Resell or sublicense access to the Service without our written consent
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.
6. Your Content
You retain ownership of all content you create within the Service (invoices, client data, business information). By using the Service you grant us a limited licence to store and process your content solely to provide the Service to you.
You are responsible for ensuring your content is accurate, lawful, and does not infringe any third-party rights.
7. Payments Processing
Online payment collection is facilitated by Stripe. By using payment features you also agree to Stripe's Terms of Service. Matey is not responsible for errors, delays, or failures in Stripe's payment processing.
8. Intellectual Property
All software, designs, trademarks, and content comprising the Matey Service (excluding your content) are owned by Matey or its licensors. Nothing in these Terms grants you any rights to use our trademarks, logos, or brand assets without prior written consent.
9. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses. We are not responsible for the accuracy of AI-generated content (proposals, summaries, reminders): you should review all output before sending to clients.
Nothing in the Service constitutes legal, financial, or tax advice.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Matey's total liability to you for any claim arising out of or related to these Terms or the Service is limited to the amounts you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages.
11. Termination
You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms, fail to pay fees, or if we discontinue the Service. Upon termination you may export your data within 30 days before it is deleted.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales.
13. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will give you at least 14 days' notice of material changes via email or in-app notification. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
