Matey (“we”, “our”, or “us”) is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share information when you use the Matey platform, website, and mobile applications (collectively, the “Service”).
By using the Service you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the Service.

We collect information you provide directly:
- Account registration details (name, email address, phone number)
- Business information (business name, ABN, address)
- Payment and billing information (processed securely via Stripe)
- Invoice, estimate, and client data you create within the Service
- Communications you send us (support requests, feedback)
We also collect information automatically:
- Usage data (features accessed, actions taken, session duration)
- Device information (device type, operating system, browser)
- IP address and approximate location
- Cookies and similar tracking technologies (see Section 7)
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and improve the Service
- Process payments and send invoices on your behalf
- Send transactional emails (invoice notifications, payment confirmations)
- Provide customer support
- Send product updates and marketing communications (you can opt out at any time)

- Comply with legal obligations
4. Sharing Your Information
We do not sell your personal data. We share information only in these circumstances:
- Service providers: Third parties that help us deliver the Service (e.g. Stripe for payments, AWS for hosting, SendGrid for email). These providers are contractually bound to protect your data.
- Your clients: Invoice and estimate data is shared with the client email addresses you specify.
- Legal requirements: Where required by law, court order, or government authority.
- Business transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred to the new entity.
5. Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you close your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal data within 90 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or regulatory purposes (e.g. financial records).
6. Your Rights
Depending on your location you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Receive a portable copy of your data
- Withdraw consent at any time (where processing is based on consent)

8. Security
We use industry-standard measures including TLS encryption in transit, AES-256 encryption at rest, and regular security audits to protect your data. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children
The Service is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or via an in-app notice at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
